Priory Our Lady of Longefont

OULCHES
Description

The current Longefont Château is the former priory manor house of the Notre-Dame-de-Longefont Priory, built by Arbrissel, founder of the Fontevrault Order. The Revolution marked the end of the monastery. In addition to the Old Convent Manor House, the supporting walls remain, forming a terrace, in addition to a building said to be the "Confessor's House" and the church. The Château is composed of a rectangular main building, surmounted by a high Mansard roof. Blanchemain, poet and owner in the 19th, flanked it by 2 proportionate towers, with 2 semi-detached buildings set at right angles to them. The 12th-century Roman church has been recently restored by the current owners with a series of 48 capitals, most of which illustrated. Outstanding views over the dam and river from the terrace
