SAINTE-LIZAIGNE
Description

Owned by the Notre-Dame d'Issoudun Abbey, St. Lizaigne is a very simple, small building with a layout composed of two rectangles corresponding respectively to the nave for the largest and the choir. The facade is very simple with a portal adorned with bright keystones surmounted by a sealed oculus and a triangular pediment. The choir that ends with the apse is covered with a barrel vault. A 'Christ Enthroned' surrounded by the 'Elders of the Apocalypse' and the 'Resurrection of the Dead' are items which are now preserved in partially destroyed decor. In the door frame of the axis bay, two beautiful Romanesque figures symbolising the Church and Synagogue hold our attention. Recently, to complete its restoration and thanks to a local artist...
