Chapelle Saint-Sulpice

VENDOEUVRES
Description

This small, very simple 16th century building, built of Brenne sandstone, is set in a clearing in the heart of the Lancosme Forest. The legend tells that a young shepherd, intrigued by the strange behaviour of the finest ox in his herd - he was constantly turning around a bush, without eating but without languishing - discovered the corpse of St. Sulpice, the former archbishop of Bourges. A burial was given to the holy man and, at the place indicated by the animal, a spring sprung to which was attributed the virtue of healing pain (or childrens' convulsions).
Pilgrimage the first Sunday after 25 August.
